About the Member:

Sustainable Kingston is a non-profit organization that was incorporated in 2012. The organization's mission is to enhance the livability and resiliency of Kingston by sharing knowledge and providing programs that drive community action.

 
Highlighted Sustainability Projects:

2020:

  • Sustainable Kingston builds awareness regarding sustainability efforts within the community, encouraging people and businesses to take action

  • Established a print-free policy, reducing printing needs and emissions associated with it

  • Participate in the annual Pitch-In Kingston clean-up

  • Educate the community on sustainability through the annual Kingston Climate Change Symposium and workshops throughout the year

  • Work from home policy introduced thereby reducing emissions on daily commuting

  • Transitioned to a coworking space which reduces energy usage through the use of shared resources (i.e. common areas, boardrooms, etc.)

  • Prioritize sustainability in all event planning, such as the Kingston Climate Change Symposium and the Evening of Recognition

2019:

  • Downsized to a smaller office 

  • VRTUCar car-sharing program implemented to have fewer cars on the road

  • Changed over office lighting to LED
